Side B is a lot brighter due to the fact it was painted over with white gesso over a purple background.  A few more focal points in the in sky and then I will come in to brighten up highlights and crunch the darks.

Lotus underpainting

Feels good getting back on the grind.  I'm going to add more to the top right because it seems very unbalance. This is going to be a two part canvas.

Preview of a self portrait started in 2010

I wish I was still at the under-painting stage (since I kinda jumped the gun and used aerosol paint).

What a total mistake.
Unfortunately, the current progress does not look similar to any of these photos.

Oh well. I'll be working on a handful of new projects (a lot of them old paintings that need to be finished) Also I'll be posting a photo of the Lotus under-painting as soon as it is finished.

Greetings inter-web!

Greetings inter-web!

Welcome to my blog, an outlet for me to express and share things that I enjoy, (mostly) my hobbies and such. My main goal for this blog is to help me focus on my goal in becoming a painter.  Yes I have an art account somewhere else on the internet, but having my own blog and starting fresh feels liberating.  Anyways I'll stop babbling.

I'll start off with an old sketch I'm trying to revive.

Can't say too much about the meaning, most of my pieces do tend to lack them.  I started drawing a lotus for practice and then somehow ended up with typical Asian clouds, a distant mountain, and some fresh shapes that came about.  Now, I didn't intend for this "design" to happen, it wasn't planned.  I have a habit have drawing one thing, then coming back a few weeks even months to draw over or add something.
